Application forms can be downloaded in various formats. Please select your preferred format, print the application form out, fill it in and return it to the Institute by post with all the relevant documentation.

Admission Requirements

We are a fully certified British institution based in the UK teaching Islam, Arabic and Sharia. All applicants wishing to study must have the following minimum qualifications (or equivalents). If you are in any doubt regarding your eligibility, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our staff will be happy to help you. The Institute judges each application on its individual merits. Please note that overseas students must provide evidence of qualification equivalence.

  • Arabic Language Certificate (1 Year)
    • Mature students require no formal qualifications for enrolment on this course
  • Arabic Language Diploma (2 Years)
    • Mature students require no formal qualifications for enrolment on this course
  • Certificate in Islamic Studies (1 Year)
    • To enrol for this course we require: 2 ‘A’ Levels at Grade ‘C’ or above (or overseas equivalent). Fluency in Arabic (either by successful completion of the Institute’s Arabic Language Diploma, or else decided at interview or by means of an entrance test)
    • A new Islamic Studies course is currently being designed that will be taught in English, with Arabic Language as a joint subject
  • Diploma in Islamic Studies (2 Years)
    • As for the Certificate in Islamic Studies
  • Higher Licence in Islamic Law (3 Years)
    • As for the Certificate in Islamic Studies
  • Correspondence Course in Islamic Studies
    • If you are interested in distance learning in a sharia course then please call Professor Abbas on 01570 480 612 (evenings) to receive details of fees, modules and application procedures.
  • Imam Diploma (2 years)
    • As for the Certificate in Islamic Studies
  • Licence for Inculcating the Holy Qur’an
    • In the near future, the Institute is planning to offer places to those who are interested in pursuing this field
  • M.A. and Ph.D. in Islamic Studies
    • The Institute will shortly be offering these courses

Admission Procedure

At present, the Institute accepts applications for admission by post only. In the coming months, we hope to establish a new online application facility. Please address all correspondence to the Admissions Secretary. Please note, although the Institute endeavours to return all original documents it cannot be held responsible for factors beyond its control.

All applications must include the following six documents:-

  1. Educational Certificates (originals only)
  2. Copies of current, valid Birth Certificate, Passport and other relevant ID (such as a Driving Licence)
  3. 4 Passport-size photographs
  4. 2 letters of reference (one must be from a previous school or college)
  5. Referees must not be related to the applicant
  6. Evidence of fluency in Arabic (Islamic Studies and Imam Diploma only)

Mature Students

The Institute recognises that many people of skill and insight have not, for whatever reason, had equal access to higher education. In order to address this issue, the Institute accepts and actively welcomes applications from mature students. As such, mature students (those over the age of 21) can be admitted to the Institute’s educational programmes depending on individual circumstances and following the successful completion of a formal interview and entrance test.

  • Situations Vacant

    EIHS (West Wales) has two full-time vacancies for the following teaching posts:

    1. A lecturer in Islamic Studies: The successful candidate will be required to teach through the media of Arabic and English and possess in-depth knowledge of Islamic topics in general; including Fiqh.
    2. A lecturer in Arabic Language: The successful candidate will be required to teach Arabic as a second/foreign language. Some students aim to reach a level that enables them to go on to Level 1 of our Islamic Studies course, whilst others wish to learn the language of the Holy Qu’ran for their personal study.

    Salaries for both positions are according to qualifications and experience. £17 – £20,000 p.a. (M.A.) £20 – £24,000 p.a. (PhD).
