Dr Kadhem Al-Rawi (Principal): graduated from Baghdad University and received his Ph.D. in Modern History from the University of Leeds, U.K. Dr Kadhem has wide experience as a History lecturer, both overseas and in Britain. He specialises in teaching the modules on Islamic History and the Biography of the Prophet etc.

Professor Abbas Tawfiq : graduated from Baghdad University and received his Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University, India. He was a Professor of Arabic Language and Literature at Salahaddin University, Iraq and Sana’a University, Yemen. Professor Abbas teaches Arabic Grammar and Rhetoric at this Institute.

Abdullah al-Judai: is a member of the European Committee of Fatwa and Research and a Ph.D. student at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He teaches the Principles of Jurisprudence.

Patricia Sinclair (administrator and English tutor): is an English Literature graduate from the University of London and she qualified as a teacher at Goldsmith’s College. She has taught English for many years in Secondary School and latterly E.F.L. courses for undergraduates and research students.

Salim al-Shaikhi: a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, graduated from Islamiyyah University, Saudi Arabia and received his Diploma from Omdurman University, Sudan. He teaches modules relating to Islamic Personal Status Law and Inheritance.

Abu Dardaa Muhammad: graduated from this Institute and is now completing his MA in Islamic Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He is a part-time teacher of Arabic.

Wanis Lefsay (volunteer): is a legislative consultant at the Cardiff Islamic Centre and a Ph.D. student at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He teaches the modules related to Islamic Jurisprudence.

Hj Zaharuddin Bin Hj Abd Rahman: graduated from the University of Malaya, gained his MA in Fiqh and Usul Fiqh at Al-Yarmouk University, Jordan and he is currently completing his PhD in Shari’ah and Islamic Finance at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He lectures part-time at EIHS.

Mohsen Abdel Ghani El-Beltagi: is Imam at the University of Wales, Swansea Mosque. He gained his BA and MA in Hadith Sciences at Al-Azhar University, Cairo and is currently researching for his PhD. At EIHS he teaches the module Sciences of Hadith and also holds study circles that are conducted both through the medium of Arabic and English.

  • Situations Vacant

    EIHS (West Wales) has two full-time vacancies for the following teaching posts:

    1. A lecturer in Islamic Studies: The successful candidate will be required to teach through the media of Arabic and English and possess in-depth knowledge of Islamic topics in general; including Fiqh.
    2. A lecturer in Arabic Language: The successful candidate will be required to teach Arabic as a second/foreign language. Some students aim to reach a level that enables them to go on to Level 1 of our Islamic Studies course, whilst others wish to learn the language of the Holy Qu’ran for their personal study.

    Salaries for both positions are according to qualifications and experience. £17 – £20,000 p.a. (M.A.) £20 – £24,000 p.a. (PhD).
